The “Exoplanet” series imagines exploring undiscovered planets. Each semi-spherical sculpture is designed to be easily hung on the wall. From afar they appear serene; up close the cracks, fractures, fumes and clouds evoke geological and meteorological events. Each piece is unique. The raw clay is embedded with dozens of found objects, from seeds and lost jewelry to shards of glass. They are then layered in a fine mist of colored glazes. In the heat of the kiln, these elements burn, melt, scorch or fuse into the colors and textures that make the surface of each world.
